Repro Summer Films, Puzzles & More!
ĢƵ Reproductive Health Project eNews #73 – July 4, 2026
Greetings from the ĢƵ Reproductive Health Project!
The summer months are upon us. The gardens are filling in; the fireflies (or lightning bugs) are out; bright mornings are for leisurely walks or bike rides; sunsets stretch out for hours. There is so much beauty in summer, beauty radiates everywhere. And in the land of the ĢƵ Reproductive Health Project, we’ve experienced the flourishing of community through the small gatherings of the May and June Abortion Care and Reproductive Justice Institutes. Over the months of July and August, we will gather four more times with future physicians for focused conversation around abortion care training, access, and advocacy. For us, these summer Institutes are the highlight of our annual programming cycle, because we get to share space and time with students in a retreat setting, to honestly talk about what we need to talk about, in the House of Medicine, regarding this particular socio-political moment we are in.
This is our third summer holding and hosting in-person retreat-style Abortion Care and RJ Institutes. Some of you reading this newsletter have participated in one, or perhaps joining one of the upcoming Institute cohorts! If you haven’t had a chance to participate in one yet, we will be continuing to offer these Institutes in our next programming cycle, which begins in the fall, so keep your eyes open for future Institute dates as we announce them.
Following this issue of the Repro Project eNewsletter, we will be pausing publication until the fall, to give ourselves a little summer break. We are so glad that you are a part of the community of future physicians who care about reproductive health, rights, and justice. The ĢƵ Reproductive Health Project is finishing up our seventh year of work and we are so grateful to get to do this work alongside so many incredible humans showing up for the work of making justice where there is injustice, repairing where there is harm, growing and deepening community in a society that is deeply fractured, imagining and creating the future shaped by the vision for universal reproductive freedom and justice and collective liberation.
A special note of gratitude to Becky Martin, ĢƵ Senior Manager of Reproductive Health Advocacy, and production editor of this bi-weekly newsletter. Throughout every issue of this newsletter – we’re getting close to 75 issues! – Becky has made sure that it contains relevant information that you can use and share. As a life-long community organizer, she lives by the notion that “people just need to be talking with each other; get ’em in a room and get ’em talking.” For Becky, that “room” takes so many forms – but whether it’s a conference meeting room, a congressional office, a virtual classroom or a digital network of activated people, such as all of you, Becky stresses over and over the importance of “being in the room where it happens/ed.” As future physicians, you have every right to claim a spot in those rooms where it happens. The ĢƵ Reproductive Health Project is here to support you in your journey into abortion care provision, advocacy, and activism for reproductive health, rights, and justice. This newsletter is just one way you can stay informed of the issues, the policies, and the movement work you can get involved in and make a difference.
We hope you have a wonderful summer! Claim the time for the rest and restoration that you need, to whatever extent you can. In this newsletter, you’ll find a Summer Playlist of abortion-related films, a collection of repro-themed word search and crossword puzzles, and a searchable list of Abortion Care and RJ Freedom Champions. These should keep you busy for the next couple of months!
